  • Our approach

Therapy at Paradigm Psychology focuses on helping you understand why you think, feel and respond the way you do, rather than simply being told what to do. Sessions are practical, collaborative and tailored to your individual goals, exploring the patterns behind your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. The approach draws on evidence-based methods including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness-based interventions and schema-informed concepts. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, the psychologist works to understand the whole person, recognising your unique experiences, strengths and challenges. Every session is designed to help develop greater clarity, confidence and practical strategies you can apply in everyday life, moving from confusion to clarity and uncertainty to confidence.

  • Meet the team

Nicola Mowday is the registered psychologist at Paradigm Psychology, registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She has particular expertise in supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, ADHD, Autism, executive functioning challenges and gifted presentations. Nicola provides comprehensive psychological assessments designed to help individuals, families and schools better understand strengths and challenges, and offers evidence-based therapy informed by current research and best practice. All appointments and enquiries are managed by the Northern and Western Psychology reception team.

  • Your first visit

The first appointment is an opportunity for both you and the psychologist to decide whether you're the right fit for one another. It's a chance to discuss your needs, ask questions and feel comfortable about the path forward. Confidentiality is covered in detail so you fully understand what it means in practice. If you're unsure which service is most appropriate—therapy or an assessment—this can be discussed during your initial consultation with support from the reception team to guide you. The session provides a foundation for understanding what's happening and exploring whether further sessions would be helpful.
