• Our approach

  Wild Child Paediatrics looks beneath behaviour, learning and emotions to understand what is really going on for each child, rather than fitting them into a predetermined box. The clinic specialises in complex kids and focuses on reading the patterns each child shows. Sessions are tailored to support each child's unique journey with comprehensive assessment and care. The practice offers specialised developmental and behavioural care for children up to 18 years old, with an emphasis on providing a supportive and collaborative environment where families feel empowered and children can thrive. Sessions are allocated one hour for new assessments (which may require up to 2-3 appointments) and 30 minutes for follow-up consultations.

• Working with families

  Wild Child Paediatrics strongly encourages both parents or usual carers to attend new assessment sessions to ensure effective communication. The clinic values collaboration and aims to provide a supportive environment where families feel empowered. Summary reports are provided for families after each assessment or review, and the practice coordinates tailored care plans with families, schools and allied health professionals to support your child's growth and development. If there are topics you prefer not to discuss in front of your child, you can arrange for a responsible adult to supervise them in the waiting room or request a private telehealth consultation with advance notice.

• Your first visit

  At the first appointment, your child will undergo a comprehensive assessment that typically takes one hour and may require up to 2-3 sessions to complete. Both parents or usual carers are strongly encouraged to attend new assessment sessions, and you should bring your child's Medicare card, preferred payment method, and the neonatal newborn (purple) book. No more than two adults should accompany your child to ensure effective communication. Summary reports are always provided after the assessment, with detailed reports available at additional charge following completion of multiple appointments.
