  • Our approach

Pathways uses evidence-based assessment and treatment tailored to each child's learning style and interests. Sessions are collaborative, with psychologists working alongside children, families, paediatricians and educators as part of the child's treatment team. The practice emphasizes creating a safe, supportive environment where children can develop psychological wellbeing and explore their strengths. Sessions address a range of developmental and clinical concerns including autism, ADHD, anxiety, behavioural issues and social difficulties. Therapy is designed to engage children and help them develop the skills they need to grow.

  • Working with families

Pathways values communication and connection with families as part of their core mission. Parents and carers are involved from the outset, with the practice gathering information from you and teachers as part of the assessment process through questionnaires and rating scales. The psychologists work collaboratively with families, seeing themselves as part of the child's treatment team alongside parents, paediatricians and educators. The practice emphasises a family systemic perspective, recognising that fostering family involvement and collaboration helps achieve common goals and promotes overall family wellbeing.

  • Your first visit

A comprehensive assessment process is central to the first appointment at Pathways, ensuring an accurate cognitive, learning, emotional, behavioural and social profile is obtained for your child. The psychologists use well-validated instruments and relevant questionnaires and rating scales, gathering information from parents and teachers to build a complete picture. Psychologists have specialised training in diagnostic tools such as the ADOS-2, ADI-R and CARS-2 for autism assessment, and cognitive measures like the WISC-V for school-aged children. The assessment is thorough and timely, setting the foundation for any recommended treatment or support moving forward.
