Our approach
Little Legends adopts a holistic and inclusive approach to support children to do the things they want to do, need to do, and should do. The occupational therapists work collaboratively with families to meet their goals, learning from clients to ensure therapy is meaningful and fun. Sessions focus on evidence-based support across a range of occupations and skill areas, including emotional regulation, self-care, play, social learning, and school participation. The therapists bring curiosity, genuine interest in each child's unique needs, and a commitment to helping little legends build confidence to tackle everyday challenges.
Working with families
The therapists work collaboratively with families, valuing their input and learning from clients to ensure therapy is meaningful and tailored to each child's goals. Parent consultations are part of the service offering, alongside functional assessments and regular therapy sessions. The team emphasises working with both little legends and their big legends, incorporating parenting knowledge and family perspectives into practice. Clear communication and partnership are central to how the clinic supports children and their families in achieving their goals.
Meet the team
The clinic is led by two Co-Directors: Kimberley Smith and Rachael May, both paediatric occupational therapists with a combined 25 years of experience supporting children across school and private settings. Kim's passion lies in pre-diagnostic assessment, emotional regulation, behaviour, executive functioning, and education support, and she brings insights from her own parenting journey. Rachael specialises in continence and toileting, self-care skills, assistive technology, and school support, drawing on her experience as a parent. Paige Karolyii, a paediatric occupational therapist, brings enthusiasm and expertise in sensory processing, emotional regulation, fine motor skills, and social skills development.
