  • Our approach

Encourage Therapy focuses on empowering, inspiring and achieving with clients through a one-on-one personal approach. Sessions are delivered in the places children spend their time most—at home, school, gym, beach, park or other community settings—rather than in a clinic environment. The therapist works with each child individually, tailoring support to their needs and goals. Sessions are designed to be functional and integrated into daily activities, with strategies that children can implement in their everyday tasks and problem-solving. The approach emphasises making sessions interactive and engaging so that children look forward to attending.

  • Working with families

Regular communication happens throughout the therapy journey, with the therapist getting to know your child's full history and goals to inform their approach. The provider values your input about what is currently working or not working, and uses this information to develop individualised session plans. If you are on an NDIS plan, you are encouraged to share your plan details with the team so they can advocate on your behalf regarding funding and ensure therapy aligns with your child's approved supports. Parents and carers remain central to the therapy process, with appointments scheduled at times that work for your family and services delivered in familiar community settings where family can be involved.

How do I connect with Encourage Therapy?

You can call +61 1300 688 312, email them and visit their website.

Do I need a referral to see a speech pathologist?

No referral is needed to see one privately. You only need a GP referral if you want to access Medicare rebates or are going through certain funded pathways.

Is speech therapy covered by the NDIS?

It can be, usually under Capacity Building / Improved Daily Living, if it aligns with your child's plan goals. Check your plan or ask your support coordinator.

At what age should we see a speech pathologist?

There's no "too early." If you have concerns about your child's talking or understanding at any age, an assessment can clarify whether support would help.

How long are sessions and how many will we need?

Session length varies between clinics and services, so check it with the provider when you book. The number depends on your child's goals; the pathologist will recommend a plan after the initial assessment.
