  • Our approach

The service uses evidence-based, family-centred, goal-directed therapy tailored to each child's individual needs and circumstances. Sessions focus on everyday activities that are challenging and impacting daily life, with expertise in global developmental delay, behaviour and emotional regulation, school transition, daily life skills, and sensory differences. Therapy can happen in the home, at the child's early education or school setting, or via telehealth, with flexibility to move between different spaces and formats depending on what works best for the family. The provider stays current with the latest research and professional development to support children in reaching their full potential.

  • Working with families

Parent involvement is built into the service from the start. In-home sessions allow parents to watch and engage in therapy as it happens, recognising that ongoing practice at home between sessions is essential to outcomes. The provider works collaboratively with families to tailor goals and sessions to meet individual needs, and when therapy occurs in early education or school settings, the provider works with educators to ensure there is ongoing support for your child. Communication and partnership with families is central to the approach.

  • Meet the team

The team includes Larissa, a paediatric occupational therapist who has been practising since 2015 with experience in two of Australia's largest tertiary hospitals: Monash Children's Hospital and The Royal Children's Hospital. She currently works part-time in the private sector at tiny tOTs while also maintaining ongoing professional development to remain skilled across many areas of child development. Larissa has particular expertise in autism spectrum disorder, school readiness and global developmental delay.

  • Your first visit

The first appointment is completed as an initial assessment in the home setting to minimise distractions when you first meet. This allows you as a parent to watch and engage in therapy as part of the process, which is important because much of the therapeutic benefit comes from the practice done at home between sessions. The therapist will explore your child's everyday activities and any challenges they're experiencing, and will discuss goals that are tailored specifically to your child's individual needs. Initial assessments are only offered in the home and not at day care, kinder or school settings.
