• Our approach

  Shield Health Support specialises in delivering psychological assessments to identify potential learning disorders in the comfort of your own home, producing comprehensive reports to diagnose ADHD and ASD. Sessions include cognitive assessments administered by qualified professionals, with recommendations provided for teachers and feedback sessions offered to parents. The service takes a collaborative approach, working with schools and teachers to identify learning conditions and their impact on children's education. Occupational therapy assessments review how learning conditions affect schooling and provide recommendations to minimise barriers at school and home so children can thrive. The organisation combines medical and therapeutic expertise to address education from a health perspective.

• Working with families

  Parents receive feedback sessions following assessments and recommendations tailored to support their child's learning. The organisation provides comprehensive reports with recommendations for teachers and works collaboratively with schools to identify learning conditions and their impact. Parent concerns about service delivery are actively addressed, with dedicated efforts made to mitigate any worries. The team liaisons with the Department of Veterans' Affairs on behalf of families to secure funding and manage the application process, so parents don't have to navigate it alone.

• Meet the team

  The team includes a Registered Psychologist (Samar) who completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science with Honours at the University of Newcastle and a Masters of Rehabilitation Counselling, specialising in psychological assessments and cognitive testing for ADHD and ASD diagnosis. An Occupational Therapist (Katherine) completed a Master of Occupational Therapy in 2019 and has comprehensive NDIS experience, qualified to perform sensory assessments, functional capacity assessments and home assessments with extensive telehealth expertise. A Medical Doctor in training (Kye, Managing Director) brings medical field background and appreciation for complex patient needs. Director Jesse Shield co-founded the organisation with Australian Army background and expertise in defence community legislation and policies. A Veteran Relationship Manager (Megan) with government case management experience helps secure DVA funding for services.
