Our approach
Family therapy is a supportive form of counselling that helps families and couples understand how their relationships can be both the cause and the solution to the issues affecting them. Sessions enable family members to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, understand each other's experiences and points of view, and appreciate each other's needs. The approach builds on family strengths to make useful changes in relationships and lives, working with the entire family because every member has a valuable role in the family system. This is considered a highly effective approach for prevention and treatment of emotional and behavioural problems in childhood and adolescence.
Working with families
The family-focused approach places parents and carers at the centre of the work, as every family member has a valuable role in the family system. The centre believes that working with the entire family is the best way to help those affected by emotional, mental health or behavioural issues. Sessions help family members express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, understand each other's experiences, and build on family strengths together to make changes.
