  • Our approach

Our psychologists use a range of scientifically supported, APS-endorsed therapies tailored to your child's individual needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and others. Individual therapy is a collaborative process where your child and their therapist work together to identify goals and implement solutions in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Family therapy can also help families develop new dynamics and find solutions together by improving understanding of each other's views and experiences. Sessions last 50 minutes, providing time to discuss needs, explore goals, and develop a flexible plan to support your child's progress. Your child determines the most effective means of facilitating change, with your therapist providing support throughout the process.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the service, with family therapy available to help family members express and explore difficult thoughts and feelings while building better understanding of each other's views, experiences and needs. The practice works with parent-child relationships, sibling relationships, and family dynamics, offering parenting skills support and help managing challenging behaviours. When you book your first appointment, you'll receive an email prior to your visit, and appointments are typically 50–60 minutes, allowing time to discuss your child's needs and develop a flexible plan collaboratively. The practice emphasises creating a safe, confidential environment and is transparent about confidentiality boundaries, which are discussed at the first appointment.

  • Your first visit

Prior to your first appointment, you'll receive an email with a link to complete demographic details and a consent form, which takes only a few minutes and must be completed beforehand. The appointment itself typically lasts 50–60 minutes, giving you and the therapist time to discuss your child's needs, explore therapy goals, and develop a flexible plan to support their progress. During this initial session, the therapist will work collaboratively with you to clarify priorities and outline the best approach for your child's therapy. You're welcome to contact the practice directly to book—referrals aren't necessary, though your GP can provide a Mental Health Care Plan to access Medicare rebates. The team aims to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment from your very first interaction.
