Our approach
More Than Able Therapy takes a family-centred, goal-directed approach that is neuroaffirming and focuses on building each child's independence, confidence and participation in everyday life. Sessions are play-based and personalised to your child's developmental stage and individual goals, incorporating evidence-based practices and the latest therapy techniques. The therapists work collaboratively with families to set meaningful, achievable goals aligned with what matters to your family, treating parents as part of the therapy team. Your child's strengths and abilities are the foundation for their therapy journey, and the team celebrates progress through every step of their development.
Working with families
More Than Able Therapy is committed to partnering with families throughout their therapy journey and treats parents as part of the therapy team. The therapists collaborate with families about what matters to them and incorporate family priorities into goal-setting and therapy planning. The team regularly communicates with parents and other professionals (such as educators and paediatricians) to ensure therapy goals are consistent and transferable across home, school and community settings. Family-centred practice is central to how the service operates, with your input shaping the direction and focus of your child's therapy.
Meet the team
More Than Able Therapy's team includes Jamine (Director and Senior Occupational Therapist with clinical education and professional supervision experience) and Delia (Director and Physiotherapist who completed her postgraduate qualification at Bond University in 2015). The multidisciplinary team is composed of qualified paediatric occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and therapy assistants with many years of combined experience across education, private practice and health sectors in both metropolitan and regional settings. The team regularly collaborates with educators, paediatricians, support coordinators and other allied health professionals to ensure therapy goals transfer across home, school and community settings.
Your first visit
Your first appointment includes a detailed intake process and play-based assessment where the team focuses on understanding your child's strengths, challenges and goals. The therapists get to know you and your child to find out what matters to your family and assess your child's current abilities. From this assessment, the team creates a personalised therapy plan aligned with your family's priorities and begins collaborating with you to set small, achievable goals to work towards in therapy. This foundation helps establish the direction and focus of your child's therapy journey.
