  • Our approach

Modern Minds uses a holistic, person-centred philosophy that works on the source of issues rather than symptom relief, looking at the whole person—mind, body and soul. Sessions are based on your individual therapy goals and therapeutic alliance is central to the approach, with the team focused on pairing you with the right practitioner fit. Through a collaborative process, practitioners help you identify what matters most and provide you with specific skills and tools to reach your goals. The practice emphasises personal empowerment and works alongside clients to help them live according to their values and reach their full potential.

  • Meet the team

Modern Minds is a female-led team of psychologists, counsellors, a clinical nutritionist and a yoga teacher, all carefully selected to work harmoniously together. The team includes Kobie Allison (Director & Senior Psychologist, psychodynamic psychotherapist and EMDR-trained, working with all ages); Leisa (Senior Psychologist, Gestalt therapist and couples specialist, 18+); Frances OK (Psychologist, 16+); Laura (Psychologist & Performance Psychologist, 18+); Frances Miller (Counsellor & Psychotherapist in training, 15+); Maddison (Counsellor, 10+); Zoe (Counsellor, 5+); Caroline (Counsellor, 13+ individuals or parent-focused sessions for under 13s); and Monica (Clinical Nutritionist, teens and adults). All practitioners hold relevant qualifications and share interests in trauma counselling, anxiety, depression, couples therapy, grief and loss, eating disorders and general wellbeing.

  • Your first visit

Your first appointment begins in a peaceful waiting room where your therapist will greet you. The session is centred on understanding your therapy goals and exploring whether the therapeutic fit is right for you—considering values, personality and therapeutic approach. The 50-minute consultation focuses on building rapport and helping you feel comfortable sharing your experiences and background, with your practitioner working to understand your needs and goals to best empower you. This initial meeting sets the foundation for tailored support moving forward.
