• Our approach

  At Miss McFadden Educational Therapy, sessions use Multisensory Structured Language Therapy, the only research-backed method proven to support children with dyslexia and language-based learning difficulties. This approach actively engages multiple senses—seeing, hearing and moving—to strengthen how the brain processes and remembers written language. Sessions are carefully structured and build step by step across key areas including phonemic awareness, phonics, morphology, syntax and semantics. Each child attends weekly 45-minute one-on-one therapy sessions in a calm, sensory-supportive room that can be adjusted for temperature, sound, light and movement to suit their individual needs. The practice meets every child exactly where they are in their literacy journey and works at a pace that is right for them, balancing moving as fast as they can with slowing down as much as needed.

• Working with families

  The practice works closely with families to deliver evidence-based interventions. As part of the Initial Consultation, parents receive a written report that is useful for teachers and other support professionals involved in their child's care. The clinic emphasises liaison with families and taking a person-first approach for a truly unique and tailored learning experience. Communication with families is built into the therapeutic process to ensure parents are informed and involved in their child's learning journey.

• Meet the team

  The clinic is led by someone trained and accredited in Multisensory Structured Language Therapy. Staff must hold qualifications such as a Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy, or a Master's in Special Education or Education with relevant specialisation. All therapists are accredited in Multisensory Structured Language Therapy and hold current registration with Speech Pathology Australia or the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA). The team is trained to deliver individualised therapy sessions, conduct assessments, and liaise with families in a warm and collaborative practice culture.

• Your first visit

  Every program begins with a thorough one-hour Initial Consultation, which is a diagnostic assessment that gives a detailed picture of your child's strengths, gaps and individual learning needs. This assessment forms the foundation of a therapy plan designed specifically for your child. You also receive a written report that is useful for teachers and other support professionals involved in your child's care. Following this initial appointment, your child then attends weekly 45-minute one-on-one therapy sessions tailored to their needs.
