  • Our approach

Kids+Community takes a holistic, occupation-focused approach grounded in the belief that kids and teens thrive through play, connection, independence and participation. Sessions are tailored to your child's specific goals and may involve developing new skills, making environmental modifications, or changing attitudes to support your child's success. The team works collaboratively with you and your child to identify challenges and problem-solve solutions together. Sessions can happen individually or in group settings, with various formats including specialist play sessions led by trained assistants, community-based activities, and even a real-world café program for teenagers. The overall philosophy centres on helping children be their authentic selves, become all they hope to be, and have a genuine sense of belonging in their family and community.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to Kids+Community's approach—they work together with parents and carers to identify challenges, problem-solve solutions, and implement changes. The team provides direct coaching and support to help you build capacity to meet your child's needs, whether through adapting household routines or learning strategies. They also offer face-to-face and online forums where families and carers can connect with each other, share ideas and resources, and build community. Communication and partnership with parents is treated as essential to achieving your child's goals, with the team adapting their support to fit your family's unique context and priorities.
