Our approach
At KATS, occupational therapy is built on the philosophy that the best therapeutic results happen when everyone supporting the child feels educated and empowered to help. Sessions focus on skill development and real-life modifications to help children become as independent as possible and achieve their health and wellbeing goals. Therapists conduct ongoing assessments to understand what activities children can and want to do, their functional limitations, goals and motivations. They offer coaching and practical techniques to help children participate in everyday tasks more easily and safely. Therapy can take place at home to address daily living skills like cooking and dressing in a comfortable setting, at school through strong relationships with teachers and other supports, or online via telehealth for families unable to attend in person.
