Our approach
Journey Psychology uses psychotherapy rooted in Winnicottian ideas, where play—including talking therapy and sand tray therapy—helps children and adolescents work through their difficulties at their own pace. While the therapeutic understanding is held within a psychoanalytic framework, the specific approach is tailored to each child's needs and may include cognitive behavioural therapy, gestalt therapy, or narrative therapy. Sessions are designed to be gentle, with clients maintaining control over what happens in their session, creating a safe and respectful space where healing can occur. The therapeutic relationship is collaborative, especially with adolescents and adults, with therapist and client working together as partners to achieve positive change.
