• Our approach

  In-School Psychology uses a range of evidence-based psychological techniques tailored to each child's needs. Psychologists employ focused strategies including psychoeducation, cognitive behavioural therapy, relaxation techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation and controlled breathing, and skill development training in areas like anger management, social skills, and problem-solving. Sessions help children and adolescents learn practical ways to cope with difficult situations, regulate their emotions, think more rationally, and build resilience. The approach is collaborative, with psychologists working with schools and parents to ensure the best outcomes for each child.

• Working with families

  Psychologists work in a collaborative manner with parents and schools to ensure the best outcomes for each child. They tailor counselling to align with the Health Care Plan from the referring medical practitioner and communicate regularly with the school's contact person and parents about progress and referrals. Parents are encouraged to participate in the process, and the service emphasizes building strong working relationships with families. Additionally, evidence-based parenting programs and supports are available to help parents support their child during and while waiting for counselling.

• Meet the team

  The team at In-School Psychology includes Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, and General Psychologists, all with specific experience working with children, adolescents, and families. All psychologists are fully registered, hold current police checks, working with child checks (Victoria), and responding to abuse and neglect certificates (South Australia), along with private indemnity insurance. The team is passionate and experienced in diagnosing and treating a range of psychological issues and creating strong working relationships with children, parents, and schools.
