Our approach
Sessions at Growing Together Psychology use playful and engaging approaches tailored to each child's developmental level. The team works with parents and caregivers to develop therapy plans that connect with the child's unique needs. Supportive counselling helps children develop problem-solving skills and teaches them the value of seeking help. Sessions can take place in the clinic, kindergarten, or school settings, and the clinic is purpose-built with private consulting rooms designed to be child and family-friendly. The practice emphasises close collaboration with other professionals involved in your child's care to ensure holistic support.
Working with families
Growing Together Psychology strongly promotes family inclusion in all child and family therapy, with parents and caregivers working closely with the team to develop therapy plans and approaches. The practice offers parent coaching sessions to help bridge the gap between knowing and doing—supporting parents to apply strategies amidst their busy family lives. Parent and child relationship therapy is available, along with perinatal counselling for soon-to-be and new parents. The team communicates and collaborates with parents as essential partners in the therapeutic process, and offers flexible appointment times to make therapy accessible to all family members, including after-hours and Saturday appointments.
Meet the team
Growing Together Psychology is staffed by trusted, registered child, adolescent and family based psychologists. Team members have significant experience supporting children, adolescents and families in private practice as well as in public settings including schools and not-for-profit organisations. They have particular expertise in assessing and treating a range of childhood emotional and developmental concerns, with a special interest in working with children and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The team is experienced in working closely with other allied health service providers such as Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists, as well as GPs and Paediatricians. The practice has successfully completed over 40,000 appointments and supported over 5,000 families since commencing in 2012.
Your first visit
Your first appointment begins by discussing whether Growing Together Psychology is a good fit for your family—parents are invited to call the clinic on (03) 9077 2275 to have this conversation before booking. The initial assessment will evaluate your child's thinking, learning, behaviour and development to identify areas of strength and challenge. A psychological assessment is helpful in pinpointing any concerns and guides the creation of an individualised therapy plan. The team works closely with parents and caregivers during this process to understand your family's needs and establish a strong therapeutic relationship, which the practice considers critical to the therapeutic process.
