  • Our approach

At GBY Therapy, the approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, tailored to each child and family's unique needs. Sessions integrate multiple therapeutic frameworks—including CBT, DBT, EMDR, attachment-focused work, and trauma-informed practice—selected based on what will best support the child. The practice operates from a strengths-based, neuro-affirming perspective that celebrates children as they are while helping them understand and overcome internal barriers. Family involvement is central, with therapy often including parents or caregivers in sessions to build skills, confidence, and understanding. Sessions create a safe, reflective space where children can reconnect with themselves, build emotional awareness, and develop practical coping tools for everyday life.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are actively involved throughout the therapeutic process. The practice delivers several evidence-based parenting programs—Circle of Security, Tuning into Teens, and Cool Kids Anxiety Program—that teach parents practical strategies and skills to support their child's emotional regulation and wellbeing. Many individual therapy sessions include parents or caregivers working alongside the clinician to build understanding and confidence. The team works closely with parents to support emotional development, behaviour management, and communication across home, school, and community settings. This collaborative approach recognises that lasting change happens when parents and children work together with professional support.
