  • Our approach

Gateway Home Psychology uses a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs. Sessions draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected and how to address unhelpful patterns. The service also incorporates Humanistic Psychology to support personal growth and self-understanding, Positive Psychology to build wellbeing and resilience, and mindfulness-based techniques. Additional approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on accepting difficult feelings while moving towards meaningful goals, and Systematic Desensitisation for anxiety management. Typical therapy sessions last around 50 minutes and are delivered via telehealth, either by phone or video in a quiet space.

  • Meet the team

The team includes Clinical and General Psychologists as well as Accredited Mental Health Social Workers. Key team members include Jill Kidd (Psychologist specialising in children and families), Shraddha Patel (Registered Psychologist with extensive experience with children and adolescents across anxiety, ADHD, ASD, trauma and other presentations, skilled in CBT, ACT and psychological assessments), Shruti Gupta (Registered Psychologist experienced with adolescents aged 12+, trained in CBT, EMDR, ACT and mindfulness), Michael Chamberlin (General Psychologist with 15+ years experience, especially interested in childhood trauma), and others. Gregory Moore is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker with experience in relationship counselling and anger management. Therapists typically provide their first available appointment, with flexibility to change therapists throughout treatment.

  • Your first visit

At your first appointment, you'll need a GP mental health referral letter and a valid Mental Health Care Plan, which your GP can fax or email to the service. You'll call to arrange a convenient time with one of the admin team, who can discuss available therapists. Your first appointment will last approximately 50 minutes, so you should be ready in a quiet area to receive the call. The initial referral typically allows for up to 6 sessions, with a GP mental health review needed to access further sessions under your annual 10-session entitlement. Appointments are bulk billed at no out-of-pocket cost if you have valid referral documentation.
