Our approach
Extend uses a client-centred approach that focuses on helping people achieve their goals and own their independence. Sessions incorporate a mindful living philosophy, emphasising being present in the moment and bringing together body and mind to face challenges one step at a time. This approach pays attention to what's happening during therapy and helps clients make the most of everyday living. The therapists work collaboratively with medical specialists where relevant to ensure treatment is holistic, function-based and meaningful to each person.
Meet the team
The principal Occupational Therapist and director of services is Nia Connop, who holds a B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy and has over 12 years of extensive experience working across hospital and community settings. All Extend staff are registered Occupational Therapists with a B.Sc. (Occupational Therapy) degree and hold full registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and AHPRA. Nia's special interests include chronic conditions self-management, cancer services, cognitive rehabilitation, mindfulness and anxiety management, and physical rehabilitation in the home.
