  • Our approach

At Enigma Psychology, therapy is grounded in evidence-based practices including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. The clinicians take a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and neurodiversity-affirming approach that focuses on each individual's strengths and unique profile. Sessions are tailored to your child's needs and goals, with an emphasis on discovering root causes of difficulties and working towards lasting change. The practice is set up in a home-like, relaxed setting designed to be safe, engaging, and welcoming for children and families.

  • Working with families

The practice works collaboratively with parents and carers throughout therapy, supporting them to understand their child's individual temperament, neurodevelopment, and needs. Parents receive guidance on positive behaviour support strategies grounded in connection, emotional coaching, co-regulation, and boundary setting, and support in navigating common challenges such as meltdowns, sibling conflict, sleep issues, and school difficulties. Family therapy is offered to improve relationships and communication within the family system, helping families create change at individual and group levels. The approach is non-judgmental and grounded in attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and neurodiversity-affirming principles.

  • Your first visit

At the first appointment, you can expect an initial assessment that may include diagnostic questionnaires, background history, and relevant assessments depending on your child's needs. The session focuses on understanding your child's individual temperament, neurodevelopment, and the specific concerns you'd like to address. Assessments are delivered through either Telehealth or face-to-face appointments at the Coomera clinic. The clinicians create a warm, genuine relationship and provide a safe, non-judgmental space where children can begin to feel comfortable.
