  • Our approach

The centre takes a Christ-centred, holistic approach to counselling and psychology, viewing every part of a person's being as intrinsically connected. Sessions are conducted in a judgment-free, safe space where clients are welcomed as they are, with therapists providing support, encouragement and guidance to help people tell their story, develop insight and self-awareness, and work toward their identified goals. The therapeutic process helps people move forward by understanding the deeper issues and feelings that motivate their behaviour, rather than focusing solely on surface symptoms. Counsellors and psychologists are trained to meet clients where they are at, working collaboratively to explore what brings them to counselling and determine the frequency and likely duration of treatment together.

  • Meet the team

The team includes Lyn Varty (CEO, Christian Counsellor with 34 years' experience in trauma, abuse, neglect and pregnancy loss), Paul Browne (Registered Psychologist with 25 years' experience, specialising in child sexual abuse and complex trauma), and Dr Allison R. King (Senior and Lead Psychologist, Registered Psychologist with expertise in neurodevelopment, autism, ADHD, trauma and complex presentations). The team also includes Alison (Provisional Psychologist) and counsellors Denise, Gaston, Janine, Jarrick, Katherine, Kerry, Lyn, Matthew, Ruth and Wendy. All therapists maintain regular clinical supervision and adhere to the highest professional and ethical standards to protect confidentiality and provide quality service.

  • Your first visit

On your first appointment, you will meet with an experienced therapist who will focus mainly on assessment. Your therapist will explore what brings you to counselling, and you'll work together to identify your goals, discussing the frequency of appointments and the possible number of sessions needed to reach those goals. This initial session establishes a foundation for understanding your needs and setting clear expectations for the counselling process ahead.
