  • Our approach

Combined Minds uses a positive psychology approach that focuses on building on your child's strengths while helping them understand and work with challenging thoughts, feelings or behaviours. Sessions are designed to be approachable and calm, with the goal of equipping you with sustainable coping and improvement strategies so you can continue supporting your child's wellbeing beyond the sessions. The team works collaboratively with parents from the start, recognising that helping kids also means helping their parents develop the skills needed to maintain progress. Whether in person at their South Perth rooms or online via Zoom from home, the service aims to create a comfortable, safe space where you and your child feel at ease.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are central to the approach, with an initial parent or carer session held before seeing your child to understand your concerns and goals. Depending on your child's age, you'll attend sessions with them or join for key parts of appointments to help agree plans moving forward. For younger children aged 4–6, parents attend the full session, while for ages 7 and upwards you may attend the whole time or join for specific portions. The practice equips parents with strategies and skills to sustain their child's progress at home, with the goal of building your capability to support them independently.

  • Meet the team

The practice is led by Craig Salisbury, a registered psychologist and principal psychologist with more than 20 years' experience working with children, teens, parents and adults in private practice, as a school psychologist, and as an early childhood psychologist with multi-disciplinary early intervention teams. Craig is also a father of 4. The team works collaboratively with parents, educators and other professionals including paediatricians, speech pathologists and occupational therapists to support families effectively.

  • Your first visit

At your first appointment, new clients will first complete a "New Client Intake Form" online via the Halaxy portal, which collects your contact information, payment details and consent to services. When you arrive (or join your telehealth session), you'll have an initial session lasting around 60 minutes that includes a parent or carer discussion to understand your background and goals. If your child is seeing the psychologist, you'll attend with them for ages 4–6, or for ages 7 and upwards you'll likely attend for parts of the session such as an initial greeting and final planning discussion. You'll receive an SMS reminder two days before, and for telehealth, the Zoom link the day before your appointment.
