  • Our approach

Child Assessment Clinic takes a neuro-affirming approach, recognising that there is no one-size-fits-all method. The clinic is flexible and works collaboratively with clients to conduct assessments in a way that suits them. Sessions are designed to be positive experiences where children feel supported. Assessments usually take place over 4-6 hours in one day and include a standardised assessment with the child, a comprehensive clinical interview with parents or carers, and a review of paperwork from school or daycare. At the end, families receive feedback, specific recommendations and a comprehensive report suitable for NDIS and school applications.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are central to the assessment process. The clinic conducts a comprehensive clinical interview with parents or carers as part of the assessment day. Before the assessment, the clinic invites families to complete an intake form and offers a free phone consultation to discuss your needs and concerns. The clinic is flexible with communication and happy to accommodate your preferred method if phone calls are not suitable. Families receive detailed feedback and recommendations following the assessment, along with a comprehensive report.

  • Meet the team

Marija Bagaric is a Clinical Psychologist who leads the clinic and has extensive experience in assessing and treating children with developmental, social, behavioural and learning differences. She has a strong background in diagnostic assessments for developmental delay, intellectual disability, specific learning disorders, autism spectrum, behaviour, anxiety and mood disorders. Marija believes in working collaboratively with children, adolescents, families and involved agencies to ensure they reach their potential.

  • Your first visit

The assessment process begins with a brief intake form (5 minutes) or email. The clinic offers a free 15–20 minute clinical consultation before you commit, ensuring they are the right match for your needs. If phone calls are difficult, the clinic is happy to accommodate your preferred method of communication. Once you decide to proceed, the clinic works with you to find a suitable appointment date and sends a confirmation email with necessary pre-appointment paperwork. The assessment day itself includes a review of school reports, a standardised assessment with your child, a comprehensive clinical interview with parents or carers, and feedback with specific recommendations.
