  • Our approach

Therapy at Brisbane Centre for Psychology is built on empathy, trust and clinical expertise, with each session tailored to meet individual needs. The practice draws on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Brainspotting. Psychologists work with clients in a collaborative, person-centred way, helping young people navigate emotions, build self-esteem, improve communication and manage challenges like anxiety, depression and peer relationships. Sessions provide age-appropriate approaches in a comfortable space where young clients feel safe to express themselves, with the focus on meaningful therapeutic relationships grounded in insight, growth and skill-building.

  • Meet the team

The team includes multiple Clinical Psychologists, Registered Psychologists and a Child Psychologist (Chris Barallon) across two locations. All team members are highly experienced and trained in a range of cognitive, behavioural, emotional, trauma-informed and mindfulness-based therapies. The practice was founded in 2018 by Dr Rosemary Patton, a Clinical Psychologist, and the team is committed to evidence-based, person-centred care with warmth, authenticity and compassion. The psychologists work with clients of all ages and backgrounds, bringing strong clinical expertise alongside genuine understanding to support resilience and lasting wellbeing.

  • Your first visit

The first session is designed as a safe, welcoming and pressure-free space where your psychologist takes time to understand your child's concerns, background, experiences and goals. They will ask about what brought them to therapy, their emotional well-being and any past experiences relevant to current challenges, encouraging your child to share at their own pace with no rush. By the end of the session, your psychologist will work together to develop a personalised treatment plan and offer insight into the therapy approach that may be most beneficial. The session focuses on listening, providing understanding and building the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work ahead.
