  • Our approach

Beam Health uses a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to therapy tailored to each child's individual needs. Sessions begin with a thorough assessment to identify whether difficulties stem from motor, sensory, learning, social, or emotional/behavioural challenges. Therapists work directly with children in safe, engaging spaces while providing parents and carers with strategies to support skill-building at home and in other settings. Collaboration with schools and other health professionals occurs where needed. Sessions are 50 minutes face-to-face plus 20 minutes of non-face-to-face clinician time for preparation, planning, and communication, available in-clinic, via telehealth, at home or school.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are central to the therapeutic process. Therapists provide additional strategies to enhance skill-building outside of sessions and offer support to help families overcome challenges in the home and other settings. The team gathers information from families to understand each child's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style, which informs the individualised treatment plan. Collaboration with families and relevant education and health professionals is undertaken where needed to promote the child's ability to engage in meaningful activities and enhance their quality of life.

  • Your first visit

The initial consultation typically involves a 50-minute face-to-face session plus 20 minutes of non-face-to-face time for reviewing intake information, case notes, assessment preparation, and support planning. During this appointment, the therapist gathers information to understand how the child's functioning may be impaired, identifies their strengths and learning style, and begins to develop an individualised plan with agreed goals. All initial consultations occur at the clinic. Following this, ongoing sessions continue with the same 50-minute face-to-face plus 20-minute structure to allow for case reviews, planning, and communication.
