Our approach
Your Calmer Mind takes a neuroaffirming approach to assessment, creating a safe and supportive environment where children and teens can feel heard and understood. Sessions are thorough and comprehensive, with the practitioner gently pacing the assessment to allow the nervous system space to settle when needed. The approach focuses on helping young people understand themselves with compassion, rather than pathologising neurodivergence. The assessments are evidence-based and designed to be genuinely supportive, with detailed reports that help illuminate strengths and support needs. This warm, unhurried style means young people experience the process as a relief rather than something stressful.
Meet the team
Your Calmer Mind is staffed by AHPRA-registered psychologists, including Andrew, who brings a neuroaffirming approach and extensive experience in autism and ADHD assessment. The team specialises in neurodivergent assessments across the lifespan, with expertise in supporting children, teens and adults. Practitioners are committed to creating a warm, genuinely kind environment where clients feel safe and understood. Records access is limited to administrative and clinical staff on a need-to-know basis, ensuring confidentiality.
Your first visit
At the initial assessment, Your Calmer Mind conducts a deep-dive evaluation that is thorough and comprehensive. The practitioner takes a neuroaffirming stance, allowing time for regulation and pausing when needed, so your child feels supported throughout. Sessions are available both in-person and via telehealth, whichever works best for your family. Before committing to a full assessment, there is also a no-obligation identification or screening service available if you'd like to feel more assured beforehand. The process concludes with an extensive report to help you understand your child's profile and needs.
