• Our approach

  The service uses structured, evidence-based assessment conducted by fully qualified psychologists to understand how children think, process information, and learn. Sessions involve detailed intake conversations, standardised testing with validated tools, clinical observation, and a feedback session where findings are explained in practical terms. The focus is on producing accurate diagnoses that lead to clear, actionable recommendations tailored to each individual's needs. Reports are written to be clear and practical, explaining not only what has been identified but how it presents in real-world settings and what should be done next. Where appropriate, the service collaborates with schools and teachers to ensure recommendations are applied consistently and translated into real support strategies.

• Working with families

  Parents are actively involved throughout the assessment process and are invited to a feedback session where findings and recommendations are discussed and explained in practical terms. Where appropriate and with permission, the service liaises with the child's school to assist in developing personalised learning plans. Parents can also request additional feedback sessions to seek clarification on diagnoses or recommendations. The service works collaboratively with families to ensure that recommendations are understood and can be implemented effectively in real-world settings.

• Meet the team

  The team includes Michael Waterman, the owner and a fully qualified psychologist with over 20 years of experience in helping children and adults with learning difficulties, who holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology and remains committed to professional development. Jonathan Dubiel is a warm and friendly registered psychologist passionate about working collaboratively with families and educators to provide practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to individual needs. The reception team of Emily and Sienna provide friendly and caring support as the first point of contact. All assessments are conducted by fully qualified registered psychologists; the service does not use provisional staff.

• Your first visit

  The first appointment is a single session lasting up to 3 hours for educational and combined assessments, or up to 2 hours for ADHD-only assessments. It includes an initial consultation to understand the child's history and concerns, standardised testing using validated age-appropriate tools, clinical observation, and a brief feedback session. Following the appointment, a comprehensive written report is provided via email with clear explanations of findings and practical recommendations. If parents need further clarification or wish to discuss the report in more detail, additional feedback sessions are available by calling ahead.
