Our approach
Therapy at Treehouse focuses on practical, functional interventions and strategies that children can use in school and home environments. Sessions draw on evidence-based strategies, developmental intervention, and skill-based training tailored to each child's needs. The team works collaboratively with you to set realistic goals and support your child across different settings including the clinic, school, daycare, home, community, and via Telehealth. They offer individual, pair, and group sessions depending on what suits your child best. Therapy sessions are scheduled weekly or fortnightly based on your child's goals and funding.
Working with families
Communication and partnership with families is central to the approach. The team works collaboratively with you to set realistic, functional goals and provides coaching and education for both parents and teachers. They offer parent and teacher coaching face-to-face or via Zoom to help problem-solve specific strategies for your child in different environments. The service also produces a range of reports and letters to support your family and work with your child's other healthcare providers and educators.
Your first visit
The process begins with a 30-minute parent or educator intake session to understand your child's background and any questions you may have. This is followed by a 90-minute assessment, which may be done across one or two sessions and can take place in different environments depending on what's most helpful. After the assessment is complete, you'll have a feedback session where the findings are discussed and a summary report is provided. This thorough initial process helps identify your child's specific strengths and needs so therapy goals can be targeted appropriately.
