Our approach
Occupational therapy at Posity focuses on helping children learn things they wish to do in the most effective way and apply them in daily life to build confidence and independence. For paediatric clients, sessions use playful, engaging approaches tailored to each child's unique needs, whether supporting development, learning, social skills, or overcoming physical, cognitive, and sensory challenges. Play therapy provides a safe space for children to express feelings, process emotions, and develop healthy coping mechanisms through natural creative expression. The evidence-based approach supports social, emotional, and behavioural growth aligned to what matters most to your family.
Working with families
Posity emphasises strong family involvement and parent support throughout therapy. The service offers opportunities for chats with parents and professionals to answer questions related to your child's development, autism, behaviours, emotional regulation, and sensory issues. They provide evidence-based resources and strategies to help parents set meaningful goals for their child, plus ideas to facilitate play skills and development. The team also supports parents' own well-being with strategies for self-care, helps navigate the NDIS, and provides a supportive environment to connect with other parents and professionals through workshops and group programs designed for caregivers.
Meet the team
The team includes occupational therapists registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Occupational Therapy Australia, all committed to evidence-based, goal-directed therapeutic outcomes. Leadership includes Director Faz Mohitian, Clinical Manager Jessie Carson (who is also a play therapist), and Clinical Lead Rowan Gan. Senior therapists include Dr Anoo Bhopti, a Senior Occupational Therapist and Clinical Research Lead, alongside numerous experienced occupational therapists. Allied Health Assistants provide support in therapeutic-related activities under comprehensive training from the Allied Health Professionals, and administration staff manage intake and client support.
Your first visit
At your first appointment or initial assessment, the team will work to understand your child's needs and your family's life goals so they can provide the best possible support. You'll complete an intake form providing details about your situation, and a team member will reach out to discuss your needs in detail. A consultation is then scheduled to begin the process. The assessment gathers information about your child's strengths, preferences, and areas where support is needed, setting the foundation for a personalised support plan tailored to your child's specific goals.
