Our approach
At The Well Psychology Clinic, therapy is evidence-based and grounded in a warm, collaborative approach that considers the whole child and their relationships, environment, and unique strengths. Sessions are tailored to each child's needs, focusing on practical strategies, emotional understanding, and long-term growth. The clinic uses attachment-informed, developmentally appropriate care and draws on experience across education, research, and family systems. Family members are actively involved as partners in care, and assessments directly inform therapy and practical next steps. The goal is not to label or "fix" your child, but to understand them and support their development with clarity, care, and cultural sensitivity.
Working with families
Parents and carers are supported as active partners in therapy and receive practical guidance and strategies to support their child in everyday situations. The clinic works with families on a whole-family basis, considering relationships and environment alongside the child's needs. For group programs such as Cool Kids, concurrent parent components are included to support skills at home. The clinic also offers tailored psychoeducation and workshops specifically for parents and caregivers, and maintains close communication to help families navigate systems including schools and the NDIS.
Meet the team
The practice is led by Geena, a registered child psychologist (BPsycSci Hons UNSW, MTeach School Psychology USYD, MAPS, AHPRA registered) with experience spanning education, research, private practice, health, and corporate settings. She is also an accredited teacher with extensive experience supporting children and adolescents across school settings, including Schools for Specific Purposes and support classes for students with additional support needs. Geena brings a warm, thoughtful, and collaborative style of care, grounded in evidence-based approaches and a culturally responsive perspective as a Korean Australian practitioner. She has contributed to research in anxiety and emotional processes and currently works on the Child Mental Health team at the Black Dog Institute.
Your first visit
An initial consultation lasts 50–60 minutes and begins by talking through your concerns and clarifying what you're noticing about your child. During this time, the psychologist will consider whether therapy, a psychological assessment, parent guidance, or monitoring would be most helpful for your situation. There is no pressure to commit before you feel ready, and the consultation allows you and the clinic to determine the best next steps together. With a GP referral, Medicare rebates are available, bringing the estimated out-of-pocket cost to approximately $110 per session.
