  • Our approach

Therapy at The Speechie Hub is designed to be fun, evidence-based and collaborative. Sessions focus on a range of areas including speech sound development, language skills, literacy, fluency and social communication, tailored to each child's needs. Sessions are usually one hour in total duration, with 45 minutes of direct therapy time and 15 minutes of indirect services such as progress documentation, stakeholder communication and developing personalised communication aids. The team uses a variety of certified approaches and programs to support children, ensuring treatment is individualised and high quality.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to high-quality care at The Speechie Hub. The 15 minutes of indirect services per session includes corresponding with parents and carers, ensuring you stay informed about your child's progress and are involved in their therapy journey. The team works collaboratively with families and can discuss your specific situation when you contact them. The amount of homework practice completed outside the clinic is also recognised as an important factor influencing your child's progress in therapy.

  • Meet the team

The Speechie Hub is led by two Certified Practising Speech Pathologists. Grace graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology in 2019 and has experience in education, kindergartens and community settings across the Mount Isa region. Georgia graduated in 2022 and has worked in community settings providing intervention in schools, kindergartens and aged care. Both hold multiple certifications in evidence-based programs including the Hanen Programs, PECS, PROMPT, PODD, Sounds-Write, the Lidcombe Program and several others, and both are passionate about improving access to speech pathology in rural and remote areas.

  • Your first visit

The initial assessment session generally takes 60–90 minutes and provides a comprehensive evaluation of your child's speech, language and literacy abilities. During this time, the Speech Pathologist will gather information about your child's developmental history and current concerns to understand their specific needs. This thorough initial process helps the team develop a tailored therapy plan and gives you a clear picture of your child's strengths and areas for support. You can contact Grace to book your appointment and discuss any questions beforehand.
