Working with families
The Smith Family works with thousands of children and their families to help them unlock better futures. Child sponsorship combines support from multiple sponsors to provide families with learning essentials their children need, easing the pressure on parents. The organisation consults with students, families, partner schools and supporters to understand the key challenges facing Australian children and young people. The Learning for Life program provides targeted, long-term education support and is committed to ensuring families have access to essential resources including internet-connected laptops.
Meet the team
The Smith Family has a dedicated team of 785 staff and 8,389 volunteers working across 90 Australian communities. The leadership includes CEO Doug Taylor, who brings 30 years of social sector experience in managing large organisations serving people experiencing disadvantage. The Board comprises experienced professionals including Chairman Nicholas Moore (former CEO of Macquarie Group), alongside directors with expertise in finance, strategy, data analytics, professional services, public administration and business. The team is supported by volunteers who share their skills to help Australian children in need transform their lives through education.
