  • Our approach

The Mind Clinic provides evidence-based psychological treatment in a supportive and warm environment. Sessions are tailored to your child's individual needs, with treatment typically beginning with an assessment and formulation period, followed by weekly sessions that may later extend to fortnightly or monthly intervals depending on progress. Most evidence-based treatments require between 10 and 20 sessions, though some children experience a shift in just five or six sessions depending on their presenting issues and goals. Your psychologist will work with you to determine the frequency and duration of treatment that best suits your child's therapeutic needs.

  • Working with families

Parents and carers are asked to attend the initial assessment session to assist in developing an effective treatment plan for their child. Your psychologist will discuss the need for parents or carers to attend ongoing sessions depending on your child's therapeutic needs, ensuring that family involvement is tailored to support your child's specific situation. The admin team will also work with you from the start, discussing your needs and helping to match you with the most suitable psychologist for your family.

  • Meet the team

The Mind Clinic was founded by Dr Nikki Johnson in 2017, with Dr Daniel Mullens joining as one of the first clinicians and later forming a partnership with her in 2022. All clinical psychologists who consult from the clinic are professional and energetic, sharing a dedication to helping clients improve their quality of life, relationships and mental health outcomes. Psychology fees vary depending on whether you see a Senior Clinical Psychologist, an Endorsed Clinical Psychologist, or a Clinical Psychology Registrar, reflecting different levels of experience and qualifications within the team.

  • Your first visit

At the initial assessment session, parents or carers are asked to attend to help develop an effective treatment plan for their child. You don't need a referral to make an appointment; simply contact the admin team who will discuss your child's needs and suggest the most suitable psychologist. During the assessment, your psychologist will gather information about your child's presenting issues and goals to guide their treatment approach. Your psychologist will also discuss whether parents or carers need to attend ongoing sessions depending on your child's therapeutic needs. The assessment period helps establish a clear formulation that informs the sessions ahead.
