  • Our approach

The service adopts an intuitive and holistic approach to therapy, with each assessment and intervention plan tailored to the individual child, their family and those involved in their care. Sessions are personally tailored to each child's specific needs and include formal and informal assessments, goal setting, face-to-face intervention, equipment prescription and home programs. Treatment methods vary by discipline—for example, physiotherapy uses neuro-developmental treatment, stretching, strengthening and motor learning, but mostly through play. The team works collaboratively with all involved to ensure the best possible outcomes for children.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the service's philosophy, with the team working collaboratively with parents, carers and all those involved in the child's care to ensure the best possible outcomes. At appointments, parents receive feedback following assessments and are involved in goal setting tailored to their child's needs. The team also provides home programs designed to support ongoing progress, and liaises with relevant stakeholders in the child's life. Communication can be arranged by telephone (07 3204 4018) or email (connect@thechilddevelopmenthub.com) during business hours.

  • Your first visit

At the initial appointment, the team conducts a formal or informal assessment to understand your child's specific needs and goals. The assessment considers multiple areas of development relevant to your child's situation, such as movement and posture for physiotherapy, or emotions, behaviour, sensory processing and motor skills for occupational therapy. Following the assessment, the team provides feedback and works with you to set goals. They will also discuss liaising with relevant stakeholders and may prescribe equipment or home programs tailored to support your child's progress.
