Our approach
Sunrise Psychology Group uses evidence-based therapies tailored to each person's needs and goals. The main approaches are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which helps examine the relationship between situations, thoughts and feelings to overcome challenges; Schema Therapy, which identifies unhelpful patterns and helps develop healthier ways of living; and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which uses mindfulness and values-based actions for managing long-term conditions. Sessions focus on understanding your story and goals, with practical strategies provided to get you started towards personalised outcomes. For children and adolescents with anxiety or depression, the Cool Kids individual program is available.

Your first visit
Your first appointment begins with a conversation to help you feel comfortable and understand your story, goals and challenges. The clinician will ask questions to get to know you and what brings you in. Each appointment lasts 50 minutes. You don't need a referral to book, but to access Medicare rebates it's helpful to have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, along with your Medicare card and any referral letter. By the end of the first session, you'll receive some practical strategies to help you start working towards your personalised goals.
