• Our approach

  SPACES provides educational psychology services including assessments, counselling, and educational coaching tailored to each child's unique learning style and needs. Through assessments, the provider identifies a child's learning strengths and difficulties to build understanding and self-esteem. Counselling helps young people develop strategies to manage emotions, build confidence and address concerns like anxiety, depression and stress, with support also available for parents. Educational coaching covers essential skills including goal setting, organisation, time management, study techniques and exam preparation. The approach is grounded in building self-esteem and encouraging a strong sense of self as the foundation for healthy development and wellbeing.

• Working with families

  Parents are actively involved throughout the service. The initial consultation is with parents only to discuss concerns and explore what services best suit the child and family. For assessments, parents attend the initial consultation and receive a dedicated 50-minute feedback session to understand their child's learning profile and results. Educational coaching sessions can address strategies related to friendships, bullying and social skills depending on the child's needs. School meetings bring together parents, teachers and school staff to collaboratively develop solutions and create Individual Learning Plans. Regular communication and collaboration ensure families are informed and supported in implementing strategies at home and school.

• Meet the team

  The team consists of Kristina Armstrong, the Principal Psychologist and founder of SPACES. Kristina is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist with qualifications including B.Psych.Mgt.Mkt., B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Psych.(Ed&Dev). She is endorsed as a specialist in Educational Psychology by the Psychology Board of Australia, is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society and a Fellow of the APS College of Educational & Developmental Psychologists. • Your first visit

  The first step is an initial consultation with parents only, which runs for 50 minutes and focuses on discussing your concerns, your child's history and background information in a confidential setting. This session covers what services are available and how they can best support your child and family. All fees are confirmed at this consultation, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and clarify processes before booking further appointments. You do not need a referral from your doctor to attend the initial consultation. Once you've discussed your needs, appointments for assessments, counselling or educational coaching can be scheduled.
