  • Our approach

Therapy is tailored to each client's needs, goals and circumstances, drawing on a range of evidence-based approaches including CBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, ACT, DBT, Internal Family Systems therapy and Emotion-Focused approaches. The first session or two focus on understanding what's brought you in and what you'd like to work towards, so your psychologist can consider what effective therapy might look like for you. Sessions are 50 minutes in duration, which is typical for psychology appointments in Australia. The practice emphasises that the biggest predictor of a good outcome is the fit between you and your psychologist—feeling heard, safe, and on the same page about your goals.

  • Meet the team

The team includes registered psychologists, clinical psychologists and counselling psychologists with different areas of experience, therapeutic approaches and availability. Named psychologists include Dr Joanne Dennison, Dr Carla Smyth, Rachel Burchell, Associate Professor Terence Bartholomew, Carina Purdea, Media Ali, Linél Franck, Rene Zacchini, and Sarah Levings (online only). All three types—clinical, counselling and general registered psychologists—are fully registered with AHPRA after completing accredited university qualifications and supervised practice, and meet ongoing professional standards. The practice emphasises that the fit between you and your psychologist is often more important than their specific endorsement.

  • Your first visit

The first session or two focus on understanding what's brought you in and what you'd like to work towards, so your psychologist can consider what effective therapy might look like for you. Because psychologists are trained in various approaches, they'll weigh up which best suit your goals. Sessions are 50 minutes in duration. You're welcome to discuss your needs during booking or on a free 10-minute matching call beforehand to ensure you feel comfortable and understood from the start.
