• Our approach

  Services use contemporary Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention (EIBI) techniques based on the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), employing a play-based and holistic approach to learning. Sessions include verbal behaviour, natural environment training, play coaching, and discrete trial training tailored to each child's individual needs. The provider emphasises teaching children how to learn while building confidence in parents to manage barriers to learning and reinforce positive behaviours both at home and in educational settings. • Working with families

  Parents are the most important factor in their child's learning, and the provider actively involves families through extensive parent training in all programs. Regular parent coaching sessions and fortnightly team meetings allow families to collaboratively set and review goals. The First Steps program requires high parental involvement and aims to educate and build parent confidence in setting behavioural, educational, and social goals. The provider recognises the challenges a learning impairment presents for the whole family and empowers parents with tools to manage barriers to learning and support their child across home, school, and community settings.

• Meet the team

  The team includes over 30 Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention (EIBI) practitioners led by experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners and Program Managers. Senior clinicians have completed comprehensive in-house training and passed practical and theoretical exams. Leadership includes CEO Dr Amanda Mazzoni, a registered psychologist with a PhD in Child Psychiatry and over 10 years' experience in child development and evidence-based interventions. The Canberra team includes Marie Therese, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with over 15 years' experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder. All staff work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.

• Your first visit

  An initial appointment involves a comprehensive assessment including a behavioural observation and skills assessment with your child, a discussion with parents about goals and needs, and a review of any previous reports. Based on this assessment, a personalised plan is created that meets your child's individual needs and targets. The clinician will demonstrate techniques and answer any questions to help you understand how you can support your child's learning at home and in other settings.
