• Our approach

  Sessions focus on helping children reach their full potential by viewing the whole child, not just their communication. Therapy is designed to be fun and enjoyable, with active parental involvement considered essential to embedding new communication skills into the real world. One-to-one therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes long and can be delivered face-to-face or online via Telehealth for convenience. Parents are recommended to observe all therapy sessions where possible so they can support their child's learning at home. The practice covers a wide range of communication and learning difficulties including speech sound disorders, developmental language disorder, autism, stuttering, and written language difficulties.

  Active parental involvement is considered essential to therapy, and practice is key to embedding new communication skills into everyday life. Parents are recommended to observe all therapy sessions where possible so they can understand the strategies being used and reinforce them at home. Before formal assessment, a free 15-minute phone consultation is available to answer any questions about your child or the services offered.

• Meet the team

  The practice is founded and run by Carolyn Edwards, a speech and language pathologist with over 30 years of experience across South Africa, the UK, and Australia. She holds a BA in Speech & Hearing Therapy from the University of the Witwatersrand (graduated 1992) and is a Member of Speech Pathology Australia with Certified Practising Speech Pathologist Status. Her background includes work in community clinics, schools, specialised units for children with developmental language disorder and autism, and paediatric private practice.

• Your first visit

  The first appointment typically consists of one to three assessment sessions depending on the areas of concern. It includes detailed history taking, observation, and standardised assessment to understand your child's strengths and needs. Following the sessions, recommendations are made regarding intervention and helpful strategies to support your child's communication development. A full written report is provided within three weeks of the final assessment session. Before committing to a full assessment, a free 15-minute phone consultation is available to discuss whether an assessment would be beneficial for your child.
