  • Our approach

Sound Adventures uses evidence-based assessment and therapy tailored to each child's learning style, interests and communication profile. Assessment combines parent interviews, checklists, play observations and structured activities to understand your child's needs. Therapy sessions focus on fun, engaging and motivating activities in areas like language, social skills, speech sounds and literacy. The team values parent-therapist relationships and incorporates children's curiosity and creativity into sessions, developing support in ways that feel enjoyable for families.

  • Working with families

Sound Adventures emphasises the parent-therapist relationship and recognises the importance of parent-implemented support at home. Mariah values family-centred care approaches and works collaboratively with families to develop therapy that taps into children's interests. The team builds meaningful connections with both children and families, tailoring individualised support that involves caregivers in reaching communication goals.

  • Meet the team

Sound Adventures is led by Mariah Apostolopoulos (Principal Speech Pathologist, BA in Child Psychology and Master of Speech Pathology) with over a decade of experience in assessment and intervention for language, social communication, literacy and speech disorders. The team also includes Eliana Draper and Alana Rae, both Masters of Speech Pathology students working as Allied Health Assistants with backgrounds in childcare and early childhood education respectively. Diandra Sartor, an experienced primary teacher with 10 years' experience, supports school readiness and preparation groups. All team members value child-centred, collaborative and evidence-based practice.

  • Your first visit

At an initial assessment, Sound Adventures conducts formal and informal evaluation to understand your child's learning style, language development and overall communication profile. The assessment uses a mix of tools including parent interviews, checklists, play observations and structured tabletop activities as appropriate. This comprehensive approach helps the team set meaningful therapy goals that are tailored to your child's individual needs and strengths.
