  • Our approach

The approach blends sensory and attachment-based perspectives to create holistic, strengths-based intervention tailored to each family's needs. Sessions are trauma-informed, client-centered, and focused on understanding the individual while harnessing the power of the parent-child relationship. The service creates a nurturing environment where both children and parents feel comfortable and supported. Sessions can be delivered flexibly in the clinic room at Sippy Downs, at home, in the community (including kindy, daycare and school), or via telehealth, with a core focus on skill development and adaptive strategies to support engagement in daily living activities.

  • Working with families

Parent and carer involvement is central to the approach, with a strong focus on supporting both the child and the parent as a unit. The service emphasises nurturing strong connections and promoting well-being for the entire family through collaborative goal setting and review. Circle of Security parenting workshops are offered (both individual and group formats) to support parents directly. Communication occurs through the intake process, ongoing consultation, and regular progress reviews, with the practitioner acting as a compassionate partner offering professional guidance, knowledge, tools and strategies to help families thrive.

  • Meet the team

The service is led by Hayley, a paediatric occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience specialising in perinatal mental health and early intervention. She holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from The University of Queensland, is SIPT certified in Sensory Integration, and has completed further study including a Perinatal and Infant Mental Health intensive course through the Perinatal Training Centre. She previously worked on the psychosocial team at the Mater Mothers' Hospital in Brisbane and brings both professional expertise and personal experience as a parent.
