Our approach
At r.d Psychology, we specialise in meeting children and adolescents exactly where they are—emotionally, developmentally, and in life. We use a strengths-based approach grounded in positive psychology, focusing on nurturing each child's unique abilities and helping them build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self. Sessions are designed to be playful, flexible, and safe spaces where young people feel understood and supported to explore what's going on and work towards what matters to them. We provide evidence-based therapy to help children navigate anxiety, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and everyday challenges, with a particular passion for working with neurodiverse children and teens. Our clinicians specialise in understanding behaviour and emotions from a child's perspective and work collaboratively with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Working with families
We pride ourselves on working collaboratively with families and are committed to empowering parents with practical tools, insight, and compassionate guidance through parent support and coaching sessions. We communicate openly with parents, gathering comprehensive histories at initial interviews and providing detailed feedback sessions to discuss assessment results and recommendations. Our clinicians work closely with families, schools, and other professionals involved in a child's life to create a meaningful support network and ensure that assessment findings translate into real-world strategies across home and school settings. Family involvement is central to our approach, as we believe collaboration creates the best possible outcomes for young people.
Meet the team
The team is led by Roxanne Dogon, a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with over 10 years' clinical experience and a Master's in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wollongong. Sarah Legros is a Registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar with over seven years' experience across government, private practice, and community settings, passionate about helping children feel understood and empowered. Nijashree (Nij) Shah is a Clinical Neuropsychologist who specialises in assessing neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism, ADHD, and specific learning disorders, with experience across both private practice and public health settings. Amy Morrison provides essential admin support. All clinicians maintain high standards through ongoing supervision, training, and a collaborative approach to care.
Your first visit
Your first appointment includes a face-to-face initial interview with parents (approximately 30 minutes) where we gather information about your child's history and needs. Depending on what you're seeking support for, this may be followed by an assessment battery tailored to your situation. For example, cognitive assessments use the Wechsler Intelligence Scales, autism assessments include the ADOS-2 observational tool and comprehensive parent interviews, and ADHD assessments may include the Conners-3 questionnaire. After all information is gathered, you'll receive a detailed feedback session to discuss results and recommendations. This comprehensive approach helps us clarify diagnoses and guide meaningful support for your child.
