  • Our approach

Psychology Melbourne uses evidence-based therapeutic approaches including CBT, Mindfulness Therapy, Positive Psychology, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Acceptance Therapy to help clients achieve lasting change. The team prioritises building a strong therapeutic relationship, recognising that this connection plays an important role in successful outcomes. Sessions are tailored to individual needs, with initial treatment typically involving regular weekly or fortnightly appointments over six sessions to reinforce behaviour change. The service offers flexibility through face-to-face, phone, and online counselling options across Melbourne's CBD and 17 other locations nationwide, with same-day appointments available for urgent requests.

  • Meet the team

The team comprises over 30 experienced psychologists including Clinical, Counselling, and Health Psychologists, along with highly experienced General Psychologists. They bring particular expertise in anxiety and depression, relationship counselling, anger management, grief counselling, eating disorders, family and adolescent counselling, and sexual health. The organisation was founded in 2007 by Director Jill Wright, a registered psychologist (MAPS, AAFT, AICD) who has served as General Director to the Board of the Australian Psychological Society and supervised the APS Melbourne Branch Study Group Network. All psychologists are registered with AHPRA and hold current professional credentials.

  • Your first visit

The first step is a Personal Matching Session, a 30-minute consultation (40 minutes for couples) conducted face-to-face, by phone, or online. During this session, a trained psychologist assesses the best fit for your needs and preferences to ensure a strong therapeutic relationship from the start. This matching approach has been shown to produce better results by identifying the psychologist you will work best with. After this initial session, your psychologist will work with you on your specific concerns, and you can access Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP if eligible.
