Our approach
Potion takes a creative, collaborative approach to occupational therapy that celebrates each child's unique strengths and quirks. Sessions work toward functional outcomes that matter most to you and your family, with therapy tailored to your child's personal needs. The service emphasizes working at a personal level with families, aiming to promote connection, happiness and positive progress in daily life. Sessions are 75 minutes with 45 minutes of face-to-face time, and can happen in your home, local parks, libraries, online or at the clinic—wherever is most convenient for your family. The philosophy centers on being one supportive ingredient in your child's life, helping to strengthen areas, environments or skills that need adaptation or extra support, all without unnecessary fuss.
Working with families
Family involvement is central to how Potion works—the service is designed to work together with you and collaborate at a personal level throughout therapy. Your therapist can advocate for your child's needs across different contexts, including with the NDIS, schools, specialists and other providers, with your consent. Resources and personalized home programs are developed to align interventions across your child's different environments, supporting consistency in skill development. Communication with carers and families is evaluated as part of the service quality, and you're encouraged to provide feedback about your experience. You remain in control of the therapy process, with your therapist helping to "mix everything together a bit more smoothly."
Meet the team
Senior Occupational Therapist Kate leads the team and brings extensive experience, having led the Curtin Student Supervisor team and mentored over 20 occupational therapy students throughout their practice. The team includes qualified occupational therapists (OT) and occupational therapy assistants (OTA) who work together to deliver assessments and interventions. Kate is passionate about clinical excellence and supporting families collaboratively, with a track record of helping students develop strong clinical justification skills and become capable practitioners. The team structure allows for direct therapist contact with families, and you can maintain satisfactory communication with your senior occupational therapist if you're working with an OTA.
