  • Our approach

Paper Scissors Play uses a family-centred, evidence-based approach that works with your child's strengths and interests. Sessions are creative and play-based, designed to be practical and realistic for families. The therapy focuses on systematic teaching of everyday skills like dressing and toileting, alongside sensory integration support and positive behaviour strategies. Training is provided to your child's wider team—such as teachers—to help embed skills across their different environments and support families in achieving their therapy goals.

  • Working with families

Family involvement is central to the approach, with parent coaching sessions offered as additional flexible training on topics including toileting strategies, sensory needs, sleep, feeding routines and behaviour management. The therapist works with an empathic and family-centred framework, providing practical and realistic therapy strategies that families can use at home. Home therapy programs include simple instructions and visuals using everyday household items to help develop skills outside therapy sessions, and the service also provides visual resources to support learning at home and school.
