Our approach
OT Kidz takes a client-centred and holistic approach to therapy, with sessions tailored to each child's individual needs and concerns. During assessment, the therapist uses developmental history, standardised assessments, and observations to develop personalised goals in collaboration with families. Therapy sessions run for 45 minutes, typically weekly or fortnightly, and include play-based learning within the clinic space or sensory gym. The team works across all areas of paediatric occupational therapy and regularly collaborates with families, educators, and support networks to provide the best outcomes for each child.
Working with families
OT Kidz engages families throughout the therapy process, with resources and strategies shared to help parents and caregivers support their child at home and in other settings. The therapists collaborate regularly with your child's support network—including teachers and other professionals—to ensure an integrated approach to development and growth. Goals are formulated and prioritised in collaboration with families using a client-centred approach, ensuring your priorities shape the therapy plan. The team also offers community visits to childcare, kindergarten, or school when needed to provide observation and work directly with educators.
Meet the team
The team includes five occupational therapists: Amy (Director), Rachelle (Clinical Manager), Mia (Team Leader), Conor, Wade, Samara, and Lauren, alongside two allied health assistants (Kate and Tahlia) and administrative staff. All occupational therapists hold recognised qualifications and are eligible for Medicare provider registration, with demonstrated expertise in working with children and adolescents with developmental challenges. The team is experienced across all areas of paediatric occupational therapy, including developmental delay, autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and coordination disorders, with ongoing professional supervision in place.
Your first visit
An individualised assessment begins by discussing your concerns and understanding your child's developmental history. The occupational therapist then conducts standardised assessments and observations to identify your child's strengths and areas for support. At the end of the appointment, therapy options and goals are discussed collaboratively with you to ensure the plan reflects your priorities and values. A written report outlining the assessment findings can be provided upon request, giving you a clear record of the results and recommendations for next steps.
