Our approach
Evidence-based psychological therapy tailored to each child's individual needs, including cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) adapted to be practical, engaging, and age-appropriate. Sessions focus on developing emotional regulation, problem-solving skills, and coping strategies in a comfortable, supportive environment where families are involved collaboratively. The team works with understanding, care, and patience to help children understand themselves and manage their emotions effectively.
Working with families
Families are central to treatment, with psychologists involving parents and carers in developing personalised treatment plans and discussing parenting strategies, communication skills, and guidance on applying learned strategies at home. The team collaborates with families to help ensure sessions are calm and productive, and works with parents to address unique challenges with sensitivity and professionalism. Families can also benefit from support in understanding their child's diagnosis and management approaches.
Meet the team
The team includes registered child and adolescent psychologists, clinical psychologists, and behaviour support practitioners registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) and members of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). The Principal Clinical Psychologist is Mr. Daniel J. Wendt (MAPS, FCCLP, MPsych Clinical Psychology), who leads the practice alongside a senior clinical team including Mr. Dan McAlpine, Ms. Kerri Corkill, and Ms. Madeline Cordingley. Additional child and adolescent psychologists hold qualifications including MAPS membership and clinical psychology registrations, supported by behaviour support practitioners who assist with implementing strategies and positive behaviour support plans.
