- Supports toddlers and young children to develop key motor and play skills, coordination for school tasks, playing with friends, and basic self-care tasks.
- Early Childhood Speech Pathology
- Helps young children develop early communication skills such as using words and sentences, understanding instructions and concepts, and using speech sounds.
- School-Aged Occupational Therapy

Our approach
Occupational therapists and speech pathologists at OCC Therapy work to enhance children's quality of life and play through tailored, practical, and strengths-based support. Sessions focus on helping children develop key skills for self-care, learning, social participation, and communication, with activities customised to each child's unique needs and interests. Therapy can happen in the clinic, at home, school, or kindergarten—wherever the child needs the most relevant support. The service emphasises flexibility, fun activities (particularly for younger children), and evidence-based practices that are consistently updated. Throughout therapy, the team prioritises enabling children to participate fully in their daily lives and grow into healthy, happy, fulfilled adults.
Working with families
Your role as parent or carer is central to the therapy process. You are encouraged to share your child's interests, strengths, and successes; tell therapists what is working and what isn't so strategies can be refined together; keep the team informed of changes; and ask questions whenever you need clarification. Parents and carers are kept informed of all discussions and events during school or kindy visits. The team welcomes your ideas and creative problem-solving, and emphasises that there is no shame or judgement in accessing therapy—it's simply about helping your child lead their best life.
Meet the team
The team includes more than 20 occupational therapists and speech pathologists, led by Dr Fiona Jones (founder, PhD, BOccThy Hons 1). Occupational therapists hold qualifications including BOccThy and MoOccThy, with varied experience levels. Speech pathologists hold qualifications such as BSpPath and MSPA. The practice also has an administration team including a Practice Manager and receptionists. All therapists are committed to ongoing professional development and access to high-quality resources to maintain international best practices.
Your first visit
The initial appointment gathers detailed information to understand your child's needs and abilities. This typically includes discussions with parents, carers or teachers, standardised assessments with your child, observations of your child performing relevant tasks, and completion of questionnaires. A comprehensive written assessment report with recommendations specific to your child follows. A second appointment is then scheduled to discuss results, recommended interventions, and to develop an intervention plan together—this can occur in person, by phone, or at school. At times the process may be modified, such as spending time building a relationship and observing your child first.
