  • Our approach

The service uses a warm, client-centred approach tailored to individual needs. Sessions focus on exploring your situation, identifying strengths, and building practical strategies for change. The psychologists draw from evidence-based frameworks including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, trauma-informed practice, and solution-focused therapy. Sessions last 50 minutes and move at a pace comfortable for you, with the aim of building a safe therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and supported.

  • Meet the team

The team consists of two registered psychologists: Brenton Harris and Jessica Decker. Brenton has over 15 years of experience with severe mental health issues, relationship therapy, complex trauma, and sexual abuse; he uses an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approach. Jess has over 15 years of experience and specialises in anxiety, depression, anger, family relationships, abuse, trauma, and psychological assessment; she uses an integrative, client-centred approach drawing from CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed therapies. Both are experienced in working with individuals, couples, families, and young people, and are registered with Medicare, DVA, and NDIS.

  • Your first visit

Your first session is focused on getting to know each other and understanding what brought you in. Your psychologist will share how they work and answer any questions you have about counselling. Together you'll explore what's been happening for you, what's working and what isn't, and what you'd like to be different. By the end of the first (or sometimes second) session, you'll have set clear, achievable goals and a plan for how to reach them. The psychologists aim to build a safe relationship and move forward at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
